Getting bored with S3/T3's? This is a good mountain on which to see what an S4/T4 is like.
Hibox is one of our old Snoqualmie Pass area friends and offers spectacular views with Three Queens to the east, Glacier Peak in a gunsight between Chimney Rock and Summit Chief to the north and the Snoqualmie Summit peaks arrayed on the west.
This will also be a navigational and route-finding exercise, as we'll leave the trail in 1/4 mile and climb directly up through timber to the meadowed saddle between Hibox and Lobox. The scenic route then proceeds up the SE ridge to Hibox's summit. Well return by the standard west buttress path down to the Rachel Lake Trail and complete the loop back to the parking lot.
There may be some lingering snow, and there'll definitely be steep forest and rock, so ice axe and helmet are required. Each vehicle needs a NW Forest Pass. I'll provide maps.
