  • Scrambling
  • Singles, 20-30 Somethings, Retired Rovers, Adults
  • Technical 3, Strenuous 2
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,600 ft

We will be meeting at the PCT/Commonwealth Basis Trailhead, NOT the Alpental/Snow Lake Trailhead mentioned in the Route Description. Coming from Seattle, travel along I-90 east until Exit 52 (W Summit). Take the exit and turn left onto Alpental Road. The trailhead is a few hundred feet past the overpass on the right. A Northwest Forest Pass is required per car, and depending on snow conditions, parking may be limited. Alternatively, you can turn right onto Alpental Road, then make an immediate right and park in the Summit West ski resort lot instead. If you choose to park here, you'll need to walk back along Alpental Road, crossing under the overpass, until you reach the trailhead.

Meet at the trailhead at 7:45 with plans to be geared up and on the trail at 8.

Depending on snow conditions, snowshoes may be recommended, so consider renting or borrowing a pair if you do not have your own.  I will be sending out an email with further logistics a few days before the trip.

If weather or avalanche conditions are poor, I will be canceling this trip, but will use May 3rd as a backup date.
