7:30 AM at Tibbet's Park and ride
Potential Granite-West Granite traverse. This is one my favorite local scrambles. Meet at Tibbet's Park and ride in Issaquah (just west of the covered parking structure) at exit 15 (I-90) at 7:30. I expect to be at the exit 47 trailhead at 8:30 and should be heading up by 9 am. For carpooling expect to donate appx $7-8 to the driver. Granite is a steep scramble through the woods to reach the south facing rib enroute to the summit. We will not cross or enter the main avlanche chute. Please be prepared for cold and wind; multiple pairs of gloves/mittens and a thermos filed with a hot beverage are a good idea. We will not cross or enter the main avalanche zones. Snowshoes required preferrably with elevators and many teeth(ie MSR Denali, Evo, Ascent). Crampons or microspikes are suggested for descent. Bring ice ax, helmet, and 10 essentials. Goggles might be a good idea depending on the conditions. If pace and conditions permit, we'll traverse from Granite's main summit to the West peak and return to the trailhead via Pratt Lake trail.
