This is a long, but non-technical, scramble. It is ideal for fit students. It is a 12 mile loop, with three named peaks (West French Cabin, South French Cabin, and Thomas) along with several unnamed peaks (5563 between West and South French Cabin and 5282 between South French Cabin and Thomas). 95% of the walking is on trails; only 5% of the time are we scrambling off trail. This is a fairly strenuous day, with more than 5000 feet of up and down. I would call it an S-4 or S-5 that is a T-1 or T-2. The French Cabin peaks are quite photogenic; they look like ancient fortifications. I'm hoping we'll see some wildflowers too.
