Alpine Scramble - Emerald & Saska Peaks

The plan is to do 3 or 4 high peaks on this trip. We will camp in the basin below Emerald and Saska all 3 nights.

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers activity.
  • Strenuous 4, Technical 4, Rock Scramble
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 23.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,200 ft
  • Pace: Moderate

Note:  As of late May, this trip would not be allowed by the Mountaineers due to COVID-19.   The situation in Washington state will have to improve more than I expect it to by September for this scramble to be possible.

The plan is to do the long drive and hike 9+ miles to our camp on the first day.  Emerald and Saska Peaks are the main objectives, with Pinnacle and Gopher being the other goals.  If bad weather delays the trip by a day, we will shorten it to 3 days  and only 2 peaks rather than trying to fight Labor Day traffic to get home.

The pace on this trip won't be fast but there are a lot of miles to travel and elevation to gain, so the days will be long.
