Crystal Peak 6595' and Chinook Peak 6907' are to the east of Highway 410 about even with the White River road and just south of the Crystal Mountain Ski Area. We will scramble Crystal first then follow the ridge southeast to Chinook.

If the weather is nice, we will continue around to the east (on or below the ridge and above Sheep Lake) to Sour Dough Gap and descend down to Upper Crystal Lake via the east slopes and then follow that trail back down.

I don't believe that the standard rating in the database of S4:T2 is correct, I would call this a S3:T3.  The elevation is less than 4000', most of which is on trail.  It would only be a T2, except that for the plan to traverse all the way around to Sour Dough Gap, which I think should not be too hard, (but I have not actually done it).

The snow is all gone, so leave the axe at home, but do bring your helmet.

If you are a fan of skiing at Crystal Mountain Ski Area and have hiked up to "Silver King", that is the 6998' peak just to the north of where we will be going.  So you have probably looked into this basin.
