No Mount Rainier Admission Fee/Pass required.

NOTE:  Don't plan on returning to Seattle any earlier that 7 PM.

NOTE: For Scramble Students Only

A nice snow scramble on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park following a smooth trail approach. There has been ample snow above 5000 during a recent reconnaissance.

I prefer small party sizes. Hence the limit of 6 total on this scramble.

This scramble is also a conifer-lovers dream because of the 18 Washington State conifers, 14 can be found on this hike. We will try to find them!

Trailhead:  Douglas firs, hemlocks, cedars, Yew.

4600': Yew, Engelmann spruce, red cedar, western hemlock, silver fir, Douglas fir, western white pine, subalpine fir

4730', just past scree field: Alaska cedar

5190': Noble fir and a lot of mountain hemlock in the area

5200': Ponderosa pine, grand fir (a grand fir was also noted at 4350')

At summit: Whitebark pine & a grand fir.
