Alpine Scramble - Copper Mountain

Trip

Alpine Scramble - Copper Mountain

We’re only doing Copper due to the distance, but this great conditioner (mostly trail) has spectacular views and two scrambling sections to hone your route finding/navigation skills. With a 6am start time (ughh ;), this 15 mile loop with 5000’ of elevation gain keeps things interesting with new terrain the entire day.

  • Strenuous 5, Technical 2
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 15.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 5,000 ft

Before signing up please strive for an accurate assessment of your ability to complete this very strenuous trip.  We start and end at the Kautz Creek Parking Area (no car shuttle required) by following a counter-clockwise path.  We’ll ascend Rampart Ridge in the morning (see map, the first bit of scrambling is when we’re at our freshest), follow the Wonderland Trail to Indian Henry’s Hunting Ground, ascend Copper Mountain, then return by way of the Kautz Creek Trail.

Attendees that do well on this strenuous trip will automagically get leader’s permission for two of my subsequent trips in September.  Photos from past trips to this venue can be seen here.

Arranged via email.
