8am in Bellevue
Saturday start time - 11am @ beginning of Eight Mile Road
Overnight scramble of Colchuck Peak before permit season. Just hiking in on Saturday to hopefully find better weather Sunday. Summiting Sunday.
Some considerations for this trip:
- Eight mile road will not be open. This makes it a 20 mile roundtrip distance.
- The route ascends Colcuck Glacier, a snowfield, to the col between Dragontail and Colchuck. This area has many dangers from above; rockfall and avalanche. Much care will need to be taken by the group in assessing if travelling this section of the route is safe.
- I'm looking for participants with recent ascents of around 5,000ft in a day, experience climbing steep, icy snow with crampons, overnight scramble experience, winter camping experience. And lastly, participants who will work well as part of a team; navigating, camping, supporting one another.
