9:00 AM at Skykomish Ranger Station
Captain Point is a high point on a ridge west of Stevens Pass, near the west end of the Iron Goat trail. Approach is via Kelley Creek, on south side of peak. Meet at Skykomish Ranger station off Highway 2 at 09:00. Elevation gain is 2900 feet. 4 miles in and 3+ miles out. Round trip time under 7 hours. A pleasant trip. Good for students looking for a snow climb. Party size is small because leader prefers small groups.
