After introductions, etc... we will start out by 6:45, the goal being to reach the bathroom below Pan Point around 8am. The pace will probably slow a bit above 8000ft, but we'd like to reach Muir around noon.
Once at Muir, if weather is nice, we can take a nap, snack, watch climbers coming down from Rainier, and then try our luck on Muir Peak, the rockpile above the stone shelter. Then, we'll descend via Anvil Rock, getting back to the cars well before sunset. The goal is to test ourselves and spend a little time at altitude, in case we have high altitude goals for the summer.
We won't leave anyone behind and will have a leader available to descend or stop with anyone experiencing altitude sickness, but by this point in the season we expect folks to have the required fitness, AMS notwithstanding. When you ask permission, please tell us about your 4000+ft days and any experience at altitude.
6:30am - Paradise parking lot by the bathroom tunnel on the right side.
We recommend sleeping in cars at the overnight lot below the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center.
