Alpine Scramble - Cadet Peak
Cadet is a seldom-done, strenuous, but highly worthwhile peak well-positioned on the ridge that forms the divide between the Monte Cristo - Glacier Basin drainage to the south and the popular hike up into the Goat Lake drainage to the north.

Departure time will be 7:00 am from the Barlow Pass TH/parking area. Please be sure to get there enough earlier to be booted and geared up and ready to ride.
The approach is much more feasible if done on mountain bike from Barlow Pass to the old mining township of Monte Cristo. We will lock our bikes there and hike from the town site on up into the spectacular Glacier Basin, where the Cadet scramble begins. From there on, this scramble is unremitting off-trail and steep, but beautiful and rewarding.
