Huckleberry Creek

Trip

Alpine Scramble - Burnt Park Loop

The weather looks inviting for a lonesome high country ramble with great Rainier views. Be prepared for lots of off trail travel including negotiating deadfall, and assisting with navigation.

  • Moderate
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 10.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,358 ft
  • Pace: not fast

We will plan on a loop with plenty of open meadow and ridgetop rambling on what portends to be a gorgeous summerlike day, though we will pay our dues with ascending and descending steep forested terrain off trail.  We will keep our ears peeled for the bugling of elk.   Leader is improving from recent painful condition and is never fast, but did OK with scrambling this past week.
