This will be a learning scramble for students. Both rock and snow skills are required. Participants should expect to take an active role in being at the front of the group. Be able to describe the basic route to the summit and discuss with all. Micro spikes can be brought, the need is unknown, the route will go up a north facing snowfield. Pace will be causal to moderate to allow for discussion and conversation on route finding, navigation, and general conditions that may be expected.
Note this is a route that I have not done before and there are mixed reviews of the route. If the route and conditions are such the summit isn't attainable, we will divert to Cornice Peak which we will be going by on the way to Blue Lake Peak.
Carpooling is highly recommended. Recommend car camping the night before. Distance for Seattle to Washington Pass is approximately 160 miles, and driving time will be about 3+ hours.
Meeting location is the Blue Lake trailhead, approximately one mile west of Washington Pass on Hwy 20. Arrive at 7AM, be geared up and ready to leave the parking lot at 7:30AM.
