4:30 PM at Exit 20, I-90 High Point Way
An after hours scramble. The goal is the 5,200’ almost closed contour about a quarter mile SE of pt. 5335 (West Defiance). We start at the Ira Spring trailhead (to Bandera), turn off at the first switchback on a way trail contouring NW, then turn right on a boot path directly south from the summit. The ascent from there is, uh, direct; up a rocky but not technical rib. If daylight permits and conditions are appropriate we will return the way we came. It is more likely, however, that we will follow the ridge to the east, intersect the Mt. Defiance trail and follow it back the long way around via Mason Lake. Clubhouse will not be arranging carpooling. Meet at the stop sign on the frontage road to Tiger Mtn. trailheads, exit 20 on I-90. Don't forget headlamps!
