This scramble is open to anyone who has backpacking experience within the last 3 years. There will be opportunities to organize shared gear via an email sent approximately 1 week prior to the trip.
In your leader permission request, please share your recent backpacking experience. Please also state any overnight gear that you would need to borrow.
I like to lead trips in a collaborative manner that emphasizes safety, immersion with nature, and fun. We'll travel together at a moderate/conversational pace and take breaks after every hour of walking. I've never done this trip before, so it will be a great opportunity for everyone to participate in navigation and decision making.
On Saturday we will ascend the Baldy Trail toward Mount Baldy. We'll try to find a decent place to camp on the ridge near running water. We'll eat some food, set up camp, and then attempt to summit Mount Baldy and Gray Wolf. Mount Baldy should be free of snow and a basic hike at this point; Gray Wolf could be up to class 3 scrambling. We'll return to camp, eat a nice dinner, and settle in for the evening.
We'll wake up relatively early on Sunday. We'll aim to be out of camp by 8 AM to head toward Tyler Peak, another class 3 scramble. Depending on where we've camped, we may be able to leave our overnight gear at camp, but let's expect to have to carry it with us up to the summit. After summiting Tyler Peak we will return to our cars via either the Baldy trail or the Tyler Peak Way trail, depending on how adventurous we are feeling. The Tyler Peak trail appears to be more direct, but it is not as frequently traveled and will require a road walk to get back to the cars.
Anyone who is interested is welcome to join me at Hama Hama afterward for oysters and beverages.
Meet at the Baldy trailhead at 9 AM on Saturday.

Required Equipment
Specific gear will be discussed in email a week prior to the trip. Microspikes, helmet, and an ice axe will be required.
As far as overnight gear goes, we'll be able to share some things so it's OK if you don't have everything to be self-sufficient. I have extra sleeping bags, pads, tents, bivvys, and stoves if needed.
