  • Elevation Gain: 3,500 ft
6:30 AM at North Bend
Alta is moderately strenuous trip; not the best choice for a first scramble of the season (12 miles, 3500 feet gain, S3/T3). If you like roots and damp rocks on the trail, if you like waterfalls, this trip is for you. Good possibility for flower viewing enroute to the summit, however ice axes and helmets are required. Trekking poles are advised to probe for moats, stream crossings and general balance. Snowshoes and Crampons may be needed so plan to bring them. We'll meet at the Starbucks by 7:00 in North Bend (exit 31), condense carpools and continue another hour or so to the trailhead (Rachel Lake Trail 1313 off I-90 exit 62 Kachess Lake).
