We'll head up through the Lake Laura backdoor to Rampart lakes and along the crest to Alta. 8+ rambling miles and 3000ft gain to the summit. Expect some gain on the return. I suspect open water along the route which means refills. I'll bring one water filter. Another one would be helpful. Carry two liters at minimum. This will be a warm and sunny day. Sun protection is very important on this trip. The route up from Lake Laura to Rampart Ridge is a bit steep; traction device is helpful for the trip up and down (glissading is not an option there). Bring ice ax, helmet, hasty harness-biner-prussic, and your 10 essentials. Trekking poles are helpful along the route except for the rather steep/exposed places. The road to the trailhead might be a little rough and there is the potential for cascade pinstriping. WTA report suggests that last trip to the trailhead encountered none of this.
