Exploratory trip to connect the "missing mile" of the Boundary trail, in the North West corner of Mount Rainier National Park. Starting at the Mowich entrance, ending at the Carbon River Entrance.

Will will do a car shuttle, dropping one car at the Carbon entrance, then taking another car to the start of the trip at the Mowich entrance. This trip will involve 5 miles of hiking. A 1.3 mile scramble from the saddle East of August peak down to a crossing of Tolmie Creek. Then a 1.6 mile climb up to Alki Crest on an old abandoned "trail". 8 miles with 3300+ feet of gain, 5100' of descent. Traveling over steep, heavily vegetated terrain. May finish the day with headlamps.
5:30 am Bonney Lake Park and Ride. NW area of lot, near the Chevron Station.
