  • High Point Elevation: 5,400 ft
  • Pace: 1000ft/hr

8  a.m. end of Dosewallips River Road (washout). Boots on trail 8:15.

We'll take a short warm-up walk on the Dosewallips trail, then turn off and head straight up 4500ft in 3-ish miles, then see how viable the Vahalla Peak scramble is in these spring conditions.

This trail is steep. We expect snow by around 3000ft. Please bring microspikes and snowshoes, poles and ice ax, helmet.

Load up your pack  for a conditioner, or go light and enjoy the day. We'll try for 1000ft/hr until the snow gets deep, and then we'll probably slow down.

Last time we were turned around at 4500ft for avalanche conditions (we actually saw a slow, loose wet slide in front of us!) So this is an exploratory trip for us too.

It's a long day, so please don't make plans for the evening.
