Lessons Learned from the Front Lines

Seminar

Lessons Learned from the Front Lines - Mountaineers Tacoma Program Center

A practical workshop on incident review and leadership lessons learned with Tacoma Mountain Rescue.

  • Casual

7:00-9:00pm in the Great Hall

Exploration of the Pacific Northwest and Cascades doesn't come without risk. Join several team members from Tacoma Mountain Rescue for an evening discussing lessons learned and challenges in the mountains, as well as a review of some recent missions to areas like Tower Rock and Mt. Adams. This is a great seminar to refresh the leadership principles that promote safe and successful trips in the backcountry. There will also be time to learn about and talk with members of Tacoma Mountain Rescue if you’d like to get involved as a volunteer with their organization.

Tacoma Mountain Rescue (TMR) was founded in 1958 and for 50 years they have responded to people in need. Their members are experienced mountaineers who train extensively on a variety of skills and rescue techniques; ready 24 hours a day to respond on quick notice to almost every imaginable rescue situation. From a high angle rescue to a grueling ground search; from a swift water river rescue to providing educational programs to other backcountry groups, community and children’s events; TMR's members come from all walks of life and dedicate countless personal hours to these efforts.
