Mushroom Weekend Saturday Night

Join us for mushroom weekend! This lodge stay includes meals on Saturday, Saturday night lodge stay and Sunday breakfast and lunch. If you are not a member, please fill out a free guest account on our membership page.

Schedule  for Saturday Through Sunday

  • SATURDAY
    • 9:15 AM  Meet at Crystal Springs Campground.  Note:  Campground is closed so park beside the road  
    • 9:30 AM  Meet your foray guides. Go with the foray guides to hunt for mushrooms
    • 3 PM  Return to lodge  Hot Mulled punch and appetizers
    • 3-6 PM  Identification of Mushrooms with Jerry Stein in the ZOO.
    • 6:30 PM  Gourmet Dinner
    • 8 PM  Evening Program
    • Followed by Grand Dessert Buffet and coffee tea
SUNDAY
  • 7 AM Early Breakfast
  • 8 AM  Main Breakfast
  • 9:15 AM  Foray on the Campus
  • 10:30 AM  Don't Eat The Mushrooms  (lodge main floor)
  • 11:00 AM  Mushrooms in the Pan  (Meany Kitchen)
  • 12:30 PM Lunch
  • Clean-up of the zoo and the lodge
First time Meany visitors are encouraged to check out the Lodge's Guest Information page, but here is a minumum list of items for an over night stay at Meany:
    • Sleeping bag and pillow
    • Towel and toiletries
    • Lodge shoes (ie slippers)
    • Flashlight
    • change of clothing
    • Activity waiver

What one needs to bring for Mushroom collecting:

 A Northwest Forest permit is required for all vehicles parking on forest land. You can purchased them at most sporting good stores (ie REI) or at any Forest Service Ranger Station.

  • Basket, box or large paper bags to carry your treasures AND small WAX_PAPER sandwich bags for individual small collection mushrooms.
  • Thermos filled with warm liquid (Full Weekend guests can fill the thermos at Meany).
  • Sack lunch (Full Weekend guets will make a sack lunch at the lodge on Saturday morning).
  • Hand warmers, rubber gloves (to keep hands dry), mittens
  • Warm clothing and rain gear.
  • A knife for cutting mushrooms.
  • A whistle (A MUST) - Used if you get lost or lose your group.
  • Footwear suitable for wet conditions.
  • Notebook.
  • Camera.
