New Snowshoe Trip Leader Seminar

Information session for people interested in becoming a trip leader in the Seattle Snowshoe program.

90 minute information session and hands-on group discussion about how to become a trip leader for the Seattle Snowshoe program.  There are a few different steps to become a snowshoe leader so it’s helpful to join this seminar so you can plan ahead if you are interested in leading in the 2016-2017 season.

This seminar is offered on two dates.  When you sign sign up please also choose which date you wish to attend.

The evening includes a 30-minute presentation about the prerequisites and process for becoming a trip leader, followed by small group discussion during which potential leaders talk through various trip scenarios and how to handle them.  Experienced trip leaders will be on head to share their experiences, participate in the discussions, and answer any questions.

Winter trips are what the Seattle Snowshoe program is all about!  The breadth of trips we offer is perhaps unique among the Mountaineers, ranging from easy trips with no prerequisites, to advanced trips deep into the winter backcountry, to overnight winter camping trips.  These trips require leaders with personal experience in the winter backcountry, group leadership skills, and the knowledge and judgement to travel safely in the winter landscape.
