Intermediate Climbing

Thank you for your interest in Intermediate Alpine Climbing at the Seattle Mountaineers branch!  -- The 2016 course  currently full and underway.

We typically accept between 45 and 60 students into the course each year.  

Students must submit an application and be accepted in order to participate in this course. The application process is as follows (Note: Steps 1 & 2 are required for each applicant):

1) Register for the wait list below.  "Leader Permission" is not required for this step in the process.  Note: Registration on the wait list is not a guarantee of acceptance into the course.

2) Find the application (2016 Application) attached in the course materials tab below. Once completed, email the application it to: intermediate.climbing@gmail.com.  The deadline for sending in an application is October 28th at 8:00 AM.

3) Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the Intermediate Climbing committee. The committee reviews submitted applications between October 1st and November 17; with priority given to those submitted by the deadline.  Applications submitted after the deadline will be reviewed based upon space available.

4) Once the review of an application starts, then receipt of applications will be acknowledged.

5) The committee will continue to review applications up until the initial course lecture, and may not take action with all applications in the order received.

6) Once you are accepted into the course, the applicant will receive an email from the Intermediate Committee indicating their acceptance and we will also adjust your status to approved, after which you can complete the online registration process and pay the course fee through the website.

More course details to follow. You will be able to return to the this page later for links to the 2016 student handbook and course activities. NOTE: the dates and details on Rock I, Rock 2, Ice 1, and Ice 2 Field Trips are not yet set, and once set are definitely subject to change!
