First Lecture for Olympia's Basic Climbing class, after the Wilderness Skills module.

An introduction to the class, including an overview of equipment, knots, belay and rappel techniques, lecture & field trip expectations and required conditioners/climbs/conservation club trips. We will hand out your copy of the Student Manual and Freedom of the Hills, ed 8- required reading will be Chapters 5, 9, 10 and 11. The written test will cover the Wilderness Skills from the previous 3 weeks. We will discuss the upcoming Basic Skills Field Trip- what to bring & what to study.
