The class will be held online from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Participants will receive an email with the link to register for the Zoom session before the class. Please plan to log in a few minutes in advance.
This 2.5 hour online seminar is required to graduate from Staying Found. Students will learn the use of a topographic map, compass, and other tools to stay found on the trail. PLEASE REVIEW THE REQUIRED EQUIPMENT TAB AND ACQUIRE THESE ITEMS BEFORE THE CLASS.
Required Equipment
- Compass with adjustable declination. YOUR COMPASS MUST HAVE ADJUSTABLE DECLINATION. See the article from REI, How to Choose a Compass.
- Green Trails Tiger Mountain map #204S. You can purchase the map (from the Mountaineers, Metsker Maps in Pike Place, or Amazon) or you can print a COLOR COPY of the PDF (which you can find on the Course Materials tab). Your map MUST be in color.
