Summer Camp Backpacking - 2020

Youth Program

Summer Camp - Backpacking

Introductory 2-night backpacking trip for campers ages 10 to 14 (Ozette Triangle in the Olympics).

With sea stacks, sea otters, sea lions, whales, and ocean scenery as far as you can see, the Ozette Triangle is one of the finest hikes on the Olympic Coast. This equilateral triangle of a trail is the perfect 3-day backpack for beginners. While hiking through forests and along coastlines, we'll play trail games, look for wildlife and native plants, and soak in the beauty of the Olympics. [MORE+]

Campers arrive at the Seattle Program Center on Tuesday at 9am. After a few ice breaker games, a gear check, and an introductory backcountry lecture, we will load the cars and hit the road!

Each day will include hiking, backcountry skills lessons, campground games, and lots of summer camp fun. Campers will learn how to prepare meals in the woods, set up a campsite, navigate with a map and compass, and leave no trace. Campers are expected to carry their personal gear and some of the group gear.

After 3 days of adventure, we will be back at the Seattle Program Center in time for pickup at 3pm with new stories, skills, friends, and lots of memories.
