New Snowshoeing Trip Leader Seminar - Online Classroom

Information session for people interested in becoming a trip leader in the Seattle Snowshoeing program.

  • Casual

700pm - 830pm via Zoom.
(Zoom Registration Link will be shared a few days before the seminar)

90-minute information session and hands-on group discussion about how to become a trip leader for the Seattle Snowshoeing program.  There are a few different steps to become a snowshoeing leader so it’s helpful to join this seminar so you can plan ahead if you are interested in leading in the 2020-2021 season.

The evening includes a 30-minute presentation about the prerequisites and process for becoming a trip leader, followed by a small group discussion during which potential leaders talk through various trip scenarios and how to handle them. Experienced trip leaders will be on the head to share their experiences, participate in the discussions, and answer any questions.

Winter trips are what the Seattle Snowshoeing program is all about!  The breadth of trips we offer is perhaps unique among the Mountaineers, ranging from easy trips with no prerequisites to advanced trips deep into the winter backcountry to overnight winter camping trips.  These trips require leaders with personal experience in the winter backcountry, group leadership skills, and the knowledge and judgment to travel safely in the winter landscape.
