Mountaineers Summer Camp - Olympia

Beaches, Big Trees, and all things Nature!

For campers ages 6-11, this week of DAY CAMP will be filled with fun activities and outdoor adventures that focus on learning all about nature in the Pacific Northwest! We will have a days exploring the beaches, boating and swimming and learning about fish as we catch-release in a lake, plant identification hikes, creating delicious foods from plants around us, and so much more that will encourage your child to appreciate and engage in nature!  Day camp is Monday - Friday 9:00-4:00 at the Olympia Friends Meeting House. 

Basic Schedule:

Monday: Day 1: The morning will be filled with fun get-to-know-you games as well as focus on learning the essentials to safely explore the outdoors. We will be spending the afternoon learning how to identify popular plants and explore the local nature park as we get out to search for those plants.

Tuesday: We will be heading out to the Olympics to explore the National Parks and how it compares to local parks.  We will also have a chance to dip our toes in the lake and and search for hidden treasure within the clear blue water.

Wednesday:  This is a day full of Water Exploration. We will be swimming, kayaking, and catching & releasing fish for educational observation.

Thursday: A fun day filled with exploring the marshy wetlands and comparing them to other plants and animals seen throughout the week. We will also be picking a variety of edible plants as we prepare to make delicious afternoon snacks.

Friday: Our final day will be filled with games, nature creations, and delicious nature delights, as well as a beach exploration in the afternoon.
