CANCELED - Dungeness Campground Car Camp

Experience two unique and popular day hikes and camp Saturday night in a popular campground with a spectacular sunset view  from near the reserved campsites.  Saturday's hike is to the historic Dungeness Lighthouse, where we have lunch at picnic tables, with fresh water and a nice restroom nearby.  Time will be available to view outdoor historical exhibits and, if covid 19 restrictions are lifted, to also view indoor exhibits and tour the lighthouse.  We will meet at 10 AM at the Dungeness Spit trailhead, at which time equitably allocated campsite fees will be collected in cash or check.  Following the hike, we will drive to the nearby Dungeness Campground and  set up camp.  We will have a camp dinner together in one of the three reserved campsites, followed by smores around the campfire.  At sunset we can walk the short distance to the bluff trail to watch the sunset.

Sunday morning we will have a camp breakfast, pack up camp and drive to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center, where there are restrooms, for the start of Sunday's hike to Hurricane Hill.  On the hike we will stop at Picnic Area B for a trail lunch.  On the drive home, there will be the option for a meal stop at a restaurant, if the covid 19  situation then permits it.

Registration for the car camp is by registering for both the Saturday September 25 Dungeness Spit hike and the Sunday September 26 Hurricane Hill hike.  Anyone registering for one of the day hikes must also register for the other one and participate in the Saturday night encampment at Dungeness Campground.  Compliance is monitored by requiring leader permission for the two day hikes.  See the descriptions of the day hikes under the DAY HIKES listings for complete information about them.
