Franklin Bradshaw Memorial

A few weeks ago we lost a beloved member of our community. A skier and climber, Franklin Bradshaw died after a cornice collapse on Lewis peak.

Two services are being planned to honor the life of Franklin. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on February 8 at the Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church. A Celebration of Life is planned for 6pm on March 15 at our Seattle Program Center. The memorial service will have speakers representing different areas of his life. The Celebration at the Mountaineers will have an open mike for people to tell stories of Franklin and view slideshows and videos from his many outdoor adventures.

In keeping with his outdoor spirit, Franklin's family made the following statement:
Franklin was dedicated to sharing his love of the outdoors with others and was committed to pass that passion on to the next generation. So, in lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to The Mountaineers youth programs towards establishing a Franklin Bradshaw Youth Fund Attn: Development, 7700 Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle, WA 98115 (e-mail for electronic instructions).

In addition to thanking Franklin's family for this generous gift, we would like to extend a special appreciation to Franklin his years of volunteerism with The Mountaineers. We heard from many members who expressed sadness over his passing, and gratitude to Franklin for sharing his love for the mountains with our community. We invite you all to attend his services.

The Everett Herald has published a well-done and inclusive write-up of Franklin. You can read it here.A trip report is on NW Hikers.
