To the Arctic and author in spotlight

To the Arctic, published in 2012 by Mountaineers Books, was recently named an Outstanding Book of the Year and a Book Most Likely to Save the Planet by the Independent Publisher Book Awards. It was one of very few titles to be cited for having "the courage and creativity necessary to take chances, break new ground, and bring about change."

The book and its photographer, Florian Schulz, also took center stage recently on KING TV's New Day Northwest. SEE INTERVIEW.

In the meantime check out the TRAILER to the Imax movie of the same title as Schulz's companion book.

Published under The Mountaineers Books imprint, Braided River, To the Arctic is the third title from The Mountaineers to achieve a gold-medal honor from the Independent Publisher awards. The awards were presented June 4 in New York. MORE ON AWARDS.

The production and impact of this book would not have been possible without the philanthropy of private individuals and foundations dedicated to helping The Mountaineers achieve its mission to educate and engage the public on matters vital to our natural world.
