Special Event
Alpine Lakes Weed Watchers
Recently awarded a grant from the National Forest Foundation, The Mountaineers is launching an Alpine Lakes Weed Watchers Program to train volunteer hikers to identify and map invasive species along backcountry trails and campsites this summer!
Invasive non-native plants are a major threat to biodiversity in our National Forests. Without early detection and eradication, weeds like yellow archangel, orange hawkweed or English ivy can quickly crowd native species and destroy the diversity of the alpine meadows and ancient forests in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
Learn more & sign up for an upcoming training! (Registration deadline is tomorrow, June 2, for the first session on June 3.)
