SEAFAIR needs volunteers for this weekend. ASAP!From the webmaster - As everyone does (or should) know, Seafair is a great local tradition that takes place every summer. Well, it seems the good folks at Seafair are in need of a little help. Here's their plea for volunteers this weekend:
Every so often it's necessary to 'call for back up,' and this week is one of those times. The Seafair Marathon is this Sunday, July 8, and we had a number of volunteer groups cancel their commitment to work the event. It is crucial from an emergency services perspective that we have volunteer course monitors to staff the route, and we need at least 100 bodies who can fill these positions.
If it is at all possible for you, and at least one other friend, to help us out I would be very grateful. Or if you can post this email on a company list, and forward it to co-workers, friends and family - even better! The weather is supposed to be gorgeous this weekend, and having course monitors cheer on the runners makes the event a lot of fun.
Responsibilities include making sure vehicles don't enter the course when athletes are passing, and watching for runners in distress
- Volunteers must be age 15 or older
- Non-profit groups (of 15 or bigger) will receive a $200 donation - great for youth groups trying to fundraise!
- Each volunteer receives a Seafair Marathon volunteer T-shirt, a goody bag, and invitation the Seafair Volunteer Party on August 29.
-Time commitment is from 6am until approximately 1pm on Sunday, July 8
