March 25: Celebrate the Tacoma Clubhouse's 50th!Celebrate the Tacoma Clubhouse’s 50th!

Ground was broken to construct the Tacoma Mountaineers Clubhouse on Nov. 5, 1955. Leo Gallagher donated the land, Silas Nelson was the architect, and the building was built completely by the members of the Tacoma Branch. A little over 18 months after groundbreaking, on March 21, 1957, the branch held its first meeting in the new facility. They were excited—theirs was the only outdoors club on the West Coast to have its own clubhouse.

Half a century later, on Sunday, March 25, members of the Tacoma Branch will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tacoma Clubhouse with a potluck dessert, social hour and celebratory toast to the building. The event, to begin at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse, will include a slide show of historic images as well as memorabilia exhibits. Branch members instrumental in making the clubhouse a reality will be introduced at the celebration. Bring desserts to share, memorabilia and photos of old times in the Tacoma Mountaineers. This event is free and open to all our friends and neighbors. The Tacoma Clubhouse is located at 2302 N. 30th St, Tacoma. Find it using Google Maps.
