The Wellington, New Zealand based Global Volunteer Network is seeking participants for its 2006 Everest Base Camp Trek to raise money for poverty-stricken orphaned children in Nepal.
Trekkers will visit ancient temples and palaces in Kathmandu, then the highest Buddhist monastery before making the trip to Everest Base Camp at 17,998ft. Afterwards, the group will descend to see Sherpa villages, the famed mountain yaks, and also visit the hospital that Sir Edmund Hilary created for the people of Nepal. Back in civilization, the group will then visit various projects designed to assist Nepali children.
