For active and armchair climbers, the long-running PBS show NOVA is featuring a two-hour show on Denali on January 17 at 8 p.m. Check your local PBS station for details.

"NOVA travels to Mount McKinley, the highest and coldest mountain in North America. Every year over 1,000 people attempt to climb to its summit, some never return alive. Known by its Native American name, Denali has earned a reputation as one of the deadliest mountains on earth. 'Deadly Ascent' brings together a team of doctors, rescuers and world class mountaineers as they try to solve the mystery behind these deaths."
