Experience the inner lives of wolves
Wednesday, October 26, 7:30 p.m. Kane Hall
University of Washington Room 220
Jim and Jamie Dutcher present an evening of images and stories of the wolf pack they lived with for six years in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho
The Emmy-award winners will sign copies of their recent full-color photographic book "Living with Wolves" that includes a CD with wolf vocalizations. The book includes a foreword by William Meadows, president of The Wilderness Society. A documentary film of the same name was released by the Discovery Channel this spring.
The Dutchers call for preserving wild spaces as a way to preserve wolf populations and avoid confrontations with ranchers and encroaching civilization that continue to threaten the wolf with extinction.
Their previous film, "Wolves at our Door" won two Emmys for photography and sound, and was the most successful documentary film aired by the Discovery Channel.
This event is sponsored by The Mountaineers Books, the University Bookstore, the University of Washington Program on the Environment, and the Burke Museum of Natural History. It is the second presentation in a three-part program entitled the "Western Naturalist Series."
