Tukwila was the first city in the state of Washington (and 4th in the nation) to be certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Supporting this claim to fame, the city will host their 5th Annual Backyard Wildlife Fair on Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This free event educates and inspires people to welcome wildlife into their backyards, gardens and communities. Activities and learning opportunities inform about how to attract and support wildlife through garden and landscape practices, as well as creating and preserving wildlife habitat in our region.
Highlights of the Backyard Wildlife Fair include a procession of the species childrens parade, workshops and demonstrations on living with wildlife and species identification, native plant sales, garden tours and arts and crafts booths. For more information, call 206-285-8707, ext. 109, or visit www.backyardwildlifefair.org.
