As the community prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of the devastating eruption of Mt. St. Helens, Seattle's Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) is inviting the public to submit their memories of the event and its aftermath. The deadly eruption of Mt. St. Helens on Sunday, May 18, 1980 impacted nearly everyone living in Washington 25 years ago, and MOHAI wants to hear your memories of that fateful day (as well as hear what photos, home movies or audio recordings you may have).

Volcano memories (and/or descriptions of related photos, home movies, recordings, etc.) of any length may be sent via email to "information@seattlehistory.org"; by fax to 206-324-1346; or by mail to Volcano Memories c/o MOHAI, 2700 24th Avenue East, Seattle, WA 98112. During the coming weeks, select memories will be posted at MOHAI's website (www.seattlehistory.org). MOHAI will also publish particularly meaningful submissions in its quarterly magazine OLD NEWS, and will present free MOHAI admission passes to all entrants. Volcano memories must be received by MOHAI by Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 5:00 pm.

The Museum of History & Industry is located at 2700 24th Avenue East in Seattle's Montlake neighborhood and is easily accessible from the east or west via State Route 520. Free parking is available on-site, and the museum is also accessible via King County METRO Transit. Museum and Gift Shop hours are every day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, First Thursdays until 8:00 pm.
