FREE!
Marmot Mountain Works in Bellevue is hosting a slideshow presentation by Chris Greyell & David Whitelaw on Wednesday June 16th at 7pm to celebrate the release of the 2010 edition of Rattle and Slime: Selected Rock Climbs of Darrington and some of the finest granite dome slab climbing in the Pacific Northwest.
Darrington pioneers Chris and David will share pictures and stories from more than 35 years of climbing in Darrington. Most new routes are reasonably climbable by many of our local competent climbers, and very few feet have touched the rock on these routes so far. Some of the new routes featured include ones that are at least 6 pitches or so in length to David Whitelaws SLAB DADDY, one of the longest new routes in the area at 22 pitches high and including nearly 1/2 mile of climbing! David Whitelaw is currently climbing buyer for Marmot Mountain Works, and has been climbing for almost 40 years. Author of 10 different guidebooks including Weekend Rock / Washington, David has climbed all over the world on 4 different continents in areas from Alaska to the Cascades, Yosemite, South America, and Europe, while putting up hundreds of routes.
Festivities will include drawings for a FREE Deuter backpack, a FREE Tendon rope, and a FREE copy of Rattle & Slime!
As promised, the 2010 edition of Rattle & Slime the Darrington rock-climbing guide is now on the shelves at Marmot Mountain Works in Bellevue, Washington. Always the most accurate and up-to-date Darrington guide ever with info on about 125 routes, the new edition features files for Wawetkin Dome, Waterfall Basin & the Roan Wall, Salish Peak, the Illusion Wall and the Slab Daddy. The guide will be available exclusively at Marmot Mountain Works until after the show.
