PORT ANGELES, Wash. A large landslide has closed the road to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.
Park officials say the hillside below the road gave way Monday afternoon, taking out both lanes of the road for about 100 feet. The slide, caused by heavy rains, is about a quarter mile below the Heart O' the Hills entrance station, about five miles south of Port Angeles.
No date for reopening the road has been set, but officials estimate the work could take up to six weeks to complete.
