On Sunday, September 27, PBS will premiere acclaimed director Ken Burns' new documentary, "The National Parks: America's Best Idea." More than 6 years in the making, this epic series was filmed at some of nature's most spectacular locales ? from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, the Everglades to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska.
More than just a collection of beautiful scenery, the film is a story of the people who were willing to devote themselves to saving some precious portion of the land they loved. It is a story of struggle and conflict, high ideals and crass opportunism, stirring adventure and enduring inspiration.
You are invited to join The Mountaineers on Thursday, October 1, for a group viewing of Episode Five, "Great Nature," Which features the Olympic and Mount Rainier national parks. Come share an evening of beauty and wonderment with your fellow Mountaineers. There will be door prizes and complimentary wine with your admission. All proceeds benefit our advocacy work on national park projects and Washington's National Park Fund.
