In reaction to the effect humans are having on the planet, Colin Angus embarked upon a remarkable expedition - to circumnavigate the globe using only "his own muscles."
An experienced adventurer who had already braved the Amazon River and Mongolia's Yenisey River, Colin's exploits are chronicled in Beyond The Horizon. An amazing tale of danger, hardship and eventual triumph, Angus became the first person ever to circle the globe using only human power.
For two years, Angus pedaled, rowed and skied across 27,000 miles of treacherous landscapes and windswept, lonely waters. From Vancouver, he cycled to Alaska, rowed across the Bering Strait, and braved a brutal Siberian winter on skis. Next, he rode from Moscow to Portugal, then spent five months rowing across the Atlantic Ocean to Costa Rica. Angus finished with a 5,000-mile bike ride back home to Vancouver. This incredible journey ended 720 days after he began when he crossed the finish line at the University of British Columbia.
Colin Angus is a renowned adventurer who is the author of three books, and has co-produced two documentaries for National Geographic. The Mountaineers are proud to once again host Colin, for what is assured to be a riveting tale. This is a free show and all are welcome.
