Sept. 21: Denali Slideshow at Tacoma Mountaineers ClubhouseDenali Slideshow at Tacoma Mountaineers Clubhouse
At 20,320', Denali is the highest peak in North America, and at the high latitude of Alaska, is the altitude equivalent of higher peaks in the Himalaya, with significantly more severe weather. It is thus a peak to which many mountaineers aspire, especially those aiming for Everest.
Join Tom Shimko as he talks about a trip he took with three other Tacoma mountaineers to the summit of Denali , and get a sense of the adventure the group experienced. Flying into and landing on the glacier, dragging sleds, living outdoors for three weeks in temperatures as low as -30 F, waiting out a week long storm, and finally getting to the summit after a failed first attempt. It's all good!!
Everyone's welcome, bring friends.
