Winter is upon us again, and that means it's time to grab your snowshoes, skis and snowboards! The only thing between you and more time outdoors is the need to finish your holiday shopping.
We here at The Mountaineers want to help you get outside as soon as possible, so we've put together some ideas that will make gift giving easy. You are sure to find something here for every outdoor enthusiast on your list!
Conservation
For the beginning of 2005, the Conservation Division is offering two thought-provoking events:
Seattle Environmental Film Festival
The Mountaineers has teamed up with Hazel Wolf Environmental Film Network to host the Seattle Environmental Film Festival (SEFF) on Jan. 21-22 at The Mountaineers Building. SEFF will be a two-day film festival, open to the public, to explore the magic and power of utilizing film to spread environmental messages and encourage environmental activism. Documentary films from around the world will cover a wide array of topics such as agriculture, consumerism, forestry practices, activism, global warming and pollution. Workshops will focus on cost-effective production of environmental media.

2005 Northwest Environmental Issues Course
Become a fully informed environmental advocate for the Northwest by taking the Mountaineers Northwest Environmental Issues Course. This course provides lectures and optional field trips designed to provide participants with the tools and awareness that they can use to protect the natural resources of the Northwest.
Students examine the often conflicting interests of forests, agriculture, wildlife, green economics, global warming, transportation, activism and more through lectures by local environmental experts, group discussions, and other activities.
