Advancing Alpinism is a program for developing ad hoc seminars or outings to advance our skills in any area of mountaineering. Offerings include a seminar on anchors and pulleys where you can play with slings, biners, pulleys, and fish scales to test your own rock anchors or Z-pulley setups to see the forces we generate. Aid climbing programs will include the fundamentals. We also offer several ice and mixed climbing outings, from day trips to dry tool at Black Ice (Exit 38) to week trips to Ouray for the ice festival. Suggestions for seminars (weather forecasting tools, climb planning tools, etc.), activities or outside speakers are encouraged.
