Third Beach To Hoh River
07/04/13 - 07/06/13
Seattle Under the Hill Rovers
Greenlake Park & Ride
This is a spectacular section of Washington’s wilderness coast. 100 Classic Hikes in Washington says: “Wild forest and wild ocean, woods animals and sea birds, tide pools and a series of wave-carved stacks called the Graveyard of the Giants, the constant thunder of surf.” Although the route covers only 17 miles, the way is challenging – rope ladders to ascend headlands, rocky beaches, creeks to wade. The trip needs to be scheduled to take advantage of favorable tides. A car shuttle will allow a one-way hike. ONP permits can be picked up on the way to the trailhead in either Port Angeles or Forks.
Hey everyone. We are the UTHRS (Under the Hill Rovers); a group of 20 and 30 somethings who love the outdoors, love to hike, and love to meet new people. This will be a 2 night 3 day backpack along the Olympic Coast. Hopefully we can turn it into a key swap where one group of 4 starts at the mouth of the Hoh River and heads north and the other group starts at Third Beach and heads south. We will meet somewhere along the beach on day 2, swap keys then meet up again after the hike for burgers 'n' beer in either Forks, or while waiting for the Ferry in Kingston. There are quite a few details to be worked out and specific camping spots are not reserveable in advance so flexibility is needed. This is sign up with leader. If you are interested, please email me and we can chat.
