Cle Elum Safeway Parking Lot


Rock scramble from Bean Basin to Bean Peak summit 6800'. Tacoma Branch 2011 scrambles course student trip receive first priority, then others welcome. Counts as another Rock Scramble even if student competed the overnight trip earlier. Meet Saturday May 18, 2013 at 8:00 am at the Cle Elum Safeway parking lot. Take I-90 exit # 84. I’ll be watiting at Cle Elum the Safeway Parking Lot restroom near gas pumps and we'll depart 8:15 and carpool or caravan to the trailhead from there. My cell phone is 206-353-3778. Home phone is 253-631-4004. Each car at the trailhead needs a current NW Forest car park pass from any USFS Ranger Station. Alternatively, meet at Beverly Creek camp ground restroom at 9:00. Caution, trail head is a high prowl area, bring no valuables. Expect to return to Cle Elum about 4-5pm on Sunday May 19, 2013. Gary Zink, garyzink@comcast.net
Optional Carpool: Federal Way – 348th St. Park & Ride, 6:00 AM; plus others TBD. Please coordinate carpooling with drivers and others. Meet: Sat May 18 at 8:00 AM at the Safeway in Cle Elum, I-90 Exit 84. Parking lot behind Safeway gas pumps and restroom building. Trailhead Pass: Drivers need a current “Northwest Forest Pass.” It can be obtained at WA State Parks, any USFS Ranger Station, or some large outdoor supply stores. Location: Bean and Earl Peaks, Bean Creek Basin (Tributary of North Fork of Teanaway Creek), Wenatchee National Forest, Kittitas County. Trailhead Directions in case you are late for our meeting point: 1. From I-90 exit 84, take State Hwy. 970 east for 7 miles to the Teanaway Road; turn left just before milepost 7; 2. Drive 13 miles from Hwy 970 to Twenty-Nine Pines Campground; 3. At Twenty-Nine Pines Campground continue north, bearing right onto US Forest Rd. 9737 toward Beverly Creek Campground (4 miles); 4. After about 3.5 miles, turn right just before Beverly creek onto Beverly Creek Road to Trail 1391. Questions? Contact Gary Zink, 253-631-4004
