The hike to Lake Serene begins with a stop at Bridal Veil Falls that cascade down from the lake over granite slabs. Lake Serene is in a tight basin beneath the ramparts and parapets of Mt. Index, 3000 vertical feet above. There is likely to still be snow on the upper trail and at the lake. Please bring the 10 Essential System, do not wear cotton clothing, and have appropriate footwear, i.e. no tennis shoes, trail runners, or FiveFingers®. A Northwest Forest Pass or National Forest Recreation Day Pass is required to park at the trailhead. The pace for this hike will be ~2mph.
